After the morning... Mac and Cheese... and Going to See Seamus
Ginny appeared in her flat with a loud crack, and immediately fell to her knees, hyperventilating, tears streaming down her face. "Fuck," she said pitifully. "Fucking, fuck." She was at least relieved that she'd managed to hold off until she'd left Remus's. For a moment, she stared at her dangling shirt strap, transfixed as the morning replayed in her head. Letting her hair fall into her face, she choked on a sob as the scent of Harry filled her nostrils. She stood on wobbly legs and kicked the side of her chair angrily, ignoring the pain shooting into her bare toes. She deposited her things in the chair and peeled off her clothes, leaving them in a trail to the shower. She stood under cold water, numb and unblinking, silently chastising herself for making such a big deal of this.

Her mind wanted to work its way through the logic of the morning. But she shook her head, her mind was not allowed to do that. Harry Potter was back, and she got carried away in a completely unwelcome way. Well, not completely unwelcome, but unwelcome in the ways that could break her. She dried herself and dressed in a pair of denims and one of Ron's threadbare, child hood shirts. It was once dark blue, and the cotton was so well worn it bordered on sheer in the elbows and shoulders. Unbelievably soft, it was usually accompanied, on really bad days, by a glass of strawberry milk and bottomless plates of macaroni and cheese. Strawberry milk in hand, an owl she recognized as her mother's tapped on the glass. She opened the window and sighed, realizing at the thought of her Mum, that she'd utterly forgotten her manners. She found the alumni journal in the pile of things in her chair and scrawled notes to Remus, Tonks, and Hermione.

Ginny claimed her Macaroni and Cheese and settled in with the journal. Not only did it provide a good home for things she didn't want to think of but couldn't seem to keep out of her mind, but there was also harmless conversation happening inside it. Anything resembling normal, thoughtless social interaction was what she needed to keep her mind off of Harry. The journal was perfect. It meant that she didn't have to go outside and risk seeing anyone, and the Mac and Cheese was only a few feet away. After a small nap, a bit of conversation with Seamus and Stephen, two owls to Molly, both of which seemed to be a painful stretch of the imagination but she wasn't ready to talk about anything yet, Ginny stretched and braided her hair. She was thankful that she was communicating with her mother in writing, because she would've never gotten away with the lies in person.

She look around her flat and the mussed journal. Writing in it had helped a bit, but she needed to talk to a real person that didn't cause her any emotional tempests. Pulling on a loosely crocheted hat, she popped a sobering draught into her pocket and walked down Diagon Alley to the Leaky Cauldron. She felt a bit guilty about standing everyone else up, but she figured they didn't miss her.

Luna was catching up...to everything. It seems your first shot of firewhiskey has a tendancy to make everything go in slow motion and your brain to slow down even more than that. Of course, once it does, things kind of go into hyperspeed.

Being Luna's brain, once it did manage to come to grips with present time, it promptly catalogued what had happened:

1. Mad at Seamus...very mad. He's not a nice bloke for hurting our throat.

2. Stephen said to stick with him, he won't hurt us. We like Stephen, he's a nice bloke...not like Seamus. And he called us love. We liked that.

3. Ginny gave us butterbeer. We like Ginny too.

4. Stephen thinks we don't want to take care of him! We'd take care of him, he's so nice to us! And why didn't we notice how cute he was before? Because we don't normally notice those things. We know that's Seamus' fault too, somehow. We'll figure that out later.

5. Seamus is flirting with Stephen! He's going to take care of our Stephen! No no no no no. That's not right! Why isn't that right? We have no idea, but it's not.

It was right about then that hyperspeed kicked in. If Luna's brain knew a foreboding song, like the kind they play in horro movies before things go terribly wrong, it would have started playing it now.

Luna reached over and pried Seamus' fingers loose from Stephen's waist, smacking his hands back once they were free. She shook a finger at him, trying to focus on teh correct Seamus to scold. He seemed to have multiplied while she was busy thinking.

"I stick to Stephen, not horrid man Seamus." She promptly wrapped her arms around Stephen, where Seamus just was, and squeezed.

Huffing, but too dignified to fight, he leaned back against his chair again and closed his eyes. Besides, snuggling Stephen had felt good, but he wasn't going to fight over him with Luna being extra scary like that. And also, if either of them had given him time to react, he would bet he would have pushed him away, so therefore, this just saved him the humiliation. Now Stephen had a girl around him and all things were right with the world, right?

Stephen Cornfootnot_corny on December 25th, 2005 03:52 pm (UTC)
Well this was a new development. Stephen hadn't pushed Seamus away, didn't even want to, but then Luna had replaced Seamus and he didn't understand when that happened or why. "Seamus isn't that horrid," Stephen said, feeling the need to defend the bloke for some reason. "I was just kidding, Luna, he's nice too."

If Luna wanted to cuddle up to him too, that was okay, he supposed. But he still wasn't used to two people wanting it at the same time and even sort of fighting over him? Was that what was going on? Strange. He reached out to pat Seamus on the back, a little concerned. "You okay over there?"
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 25th, 2005 08:37 pm (UTC)
"Mmmmm, OK." With Luna's brain being what it was at that moment, she was completely fine with taking Stephen's word for it that Seamus was nice after all. After all, Stephen was her new favorite person and he wouldn't lie to her.

Luna kept her head glued to Stephen's chest, but unhooked her arms from around his waist and flailed out for Seamus. Once her fingers made contact with his shirt, she grabbed and pulled.

"Come, stick to Stephen with me, Seamus. He's comfy."
the__shameless on December 25th, 2005 11:52 pm (UTC)
"But you pushed me."

He sniffled pathetically, not liking that Luna, the loony bin, had pushed HIM away. How undignified and, well, strange. Seamus duly noted that perhaps giving her the fire whiskey was a baaaad, baaad thing. Not that he would have found it amusing had he not been more pissed. Satisfied, though, he snuggled back up against Stephen and even patted Luna's side, cuddling with her too.

"Not so spinny."

He murmured, breathing in the scent of the nice man he decided was very attractive quite some time ago, but he didn't remember now, nor did he care. He rubbed his nose into his neck and sighed a drunken sigh, feeling very happy at the turn of events. Had he been less pissed, he would have felt Stephen looked like a pimp with two very attractive people hanging off him like this, and would have laughed. But that was beyond him now, as all he was concentrating on was his smell and the way Luna's side felt against his fingers. Not too bad for a Sunday, eh?

What the hell? Luna and Seamus were cuddling with him. It was almost too much for Stephen's intoxicated brain. He wondered what everyone must be saying to see two people cuddled up to him. Ginny would probably burst out laughing.

He shivered, not because he was cold (it was hard to be cold with two warm bodies snuggling with you), but because Seamus was practically nuzzling his neck. "I'm glad you think I'm comfy," he said, after clearing his throat.
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 26th, 2005 07:14 pm (UTC)
A soft, snoring sound could be heard from Luna's general direction.
the__shameless on December 26th, 2005 07:49 pm (UTC)
Figuring Luna was asleep because of the snore (how astute, Seamus!) he moved his arm off her and wound it around Stephen. He kissed his neck and smirked, sighing softly. Sooo comfy. Seamus had to fight sleep himself. But he wouldn't be like Luna, no, of course not.

"Yes, comfy comfy. Not spinny."

Stephen Cornfoot: blush.not_corny on December 26th, 2005 09:15 pm (UTC)
"Not spinny," Stephen repeated, quietly, "that's a good thing."

He sighed as well, distracted by all the affection being thrown his way from Seamus. He petted Luna's hair briefly with a free hand. "I guess I'll just let her sleep a bit. You're not going to fall asleep too, are you?" he asked Seamus, turning his head slightly to look at the other man. He wasn't completely against the kiss to his neck but figured it was all the alcohol's doing.
the__shameless on December 27th, 2005 04:11 am (UTC)

He murmured, pulling him closer with his hand on his cheek and he kissed him again, smirking against his lips.

"Not falling asleep."

Seamus smiled tiredly, though, as he looked at Stephen, forgetting to remember he shouldn't be snogging him.
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 27th, 2005 04:26 am (UTC)
Seamus pulled Stephen closer to him just enough to cause Luna's relaxed form to slide down Stephen's back slowly. Eventually, she hit the floor with a thud, waking up a bit as she did.

She stretched and sat up, looking thoroughly confused, "Wha...why am I on the floor?"
the__shameless on December 27th, 2005 04:28 am (UTC)
Distracted easily while pissed, Seamus jumped off him.

He sighed, pulling her up shakily.

"You okays?"
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 27th, 2005 04:38 am (UTC)
Luna hugged Seamus as he picked her up, not really knowing why or why she couldn't remember the last few minutes. Had she fallen asleep? She must be tired. Funny, she didn't feel tired. Warm and fuzzy, yes, but not tired.

"Mmmmmm...thank you, Seamus." Her knees seemed to not be working too well....that's strange. "What happened?"
the__shameless on December 27th, 2005 04:49 am (UTC)
"You fell down."

He smiled, hugging her and picking her up, putting her on the chair.

"Can you sit?"

Seamus liked taking care of people!
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 27th, 2005 04:58 am (UTC)
"Not if I keep falling out of my chair." Luna looked concerned, like her chair had suddenly began conspiring against her and tossing her onto the floor. It was an evil chair, she was sure.
