After the morning... Mac and Cheese... and Going to See Seamus
Ginny appeared in her flat with a loud crack, and immediately fell to her knees, hyperventilating, tears streaming down her face. "Fuck," she said pitifully. "Fucking, fuck." She was at least relieved that she'd managed to hold off until she'd left Remus's. For a moment, she stared at her dangling shirt strap, transfixed as the morning replayed in her head. Letting her hair fall into her face, she choked on a sob as the scent of Harry filled her nostrils. She stood on wobbly legs and kicked the side of her chair angrily, ignoring the pain shooting into her bare toes. She deposited her things in the chair and peeled off her clothes, leaving them in a trail to the shower. She stood under cold water, numb and unblinking, silently chastising herself for making such a big deal of this.

Her mind wanted to work its way through the logic of the morning. But she shook her head, her mind was not allowed to do that. Harry Potter was back, and she got carried away in a completely unwelcome way. Well, not completely unwelcome, but unwelcome in the ways that could break her. She dried herself and dressed in a pair of denims and one of Ron's threadbare, child hood shirts. It was once dark blue, and the cotton was so well worn it bordered on sheer in the elbows and shoulders. Unbelievably soft, it was usually accompanied, on really bad days, by a glass of strawberry milk and bottomless plates of macaroni and cheese. Strawberry milk in hand, an owl she recognized as her mother's tapped on the glass. She opened the window and sighed, realizing at the thought of her Mum, that she'd utterly forgotten her manners. She found the alumni journal in the pile of things in her chair and scrawled notes to Remus, Tonks, and Hermione.

Ginny claimed her Macaroni and Cheese and settled in with the journal. Not only did it provide a good home for things she didn't want to think of but couldn't seem to keep out of her mind, but there was also harmless conversation happening inside it. Anything resembling normal, thoughtless social interaction was what she needed to keep her mind off of Harry. The journal was perfect. It meant that she didn't have to go outside and risk seeing anyone, and the Mac and Cheese was only a few feet away. After a small nap, a bit of conversation with Seamus and Stephen, two owls to Molly, both of which seemed to be a painful stretch of the imagination but she wasn't ready to talk about anything yet, Ginny stretched and braided her hair. She was thankful that she was communicating with her mother in writing, because she would've never gotten away with the lies in person.

She look around her flat and the mussed journal. Writing in it had helped a bit, but she needed to talk to a real person that didn't cause her any emotional tempests. Pulling on a loosely crocheted hat, she popped a sobering draught into her pocket and walked down Diagon Alley to the Leaky Cauldron. She felt a bit guilty about standing everyone else up, but she figured they didn't miss her.

"It was either Stephen or Comfy. And of course, he's a boy." Luna tapped the small bird with her wand, changing him color to a brilliant royal blue. "See?"

She clapped at Stephen's successful attempt at making his own crane. "Good for you, Stephen! It's beautiful!" She beamed at him, "You should make it fly...and name it."
Stephen Cornfoot: blush.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 01:28 am (UTC)
"Beautiful."

Luna's reaction to his creation was by far over the top, he thought. It wasn't that good, but as long as she liked it, that was all that mattered. He took out his wand and tapped the crane on the head. Immediately, it stretched its wings and flapped them a bit. "I think I'll name... her.. Luna."
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 01:32 am (UTC)
Luna covered her mouth with one hand and stared at Stephen, her wide silver eyes getting a bit misty. That one hand moved away from her mouth just long enough for a barely audible whisper to escape her lips, "Really?" The hand shot back to cover her mouth once again.
Stephen Cornfoot: adoration.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 01:43 am (UTC)
Stephen smiled, geniunely serious about naming the crane Luna. "Of course! You named yours Stephen so I might as well return the compliment. Besides, you taught me how to do it." He stroked the crane's back and it flapped its wings again.
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 01:58 am (UTC)
Luna grabbed Stephen by either side of the head and kissed him quickly on the lips, letting him go almost as fast as she'd grabbed him. "You are so sweet!"

If she was embarrassed by it, it didn't show...except for the slight flushing to her cheeks that she didn't seem to notice either. She reached up and gently took the paper bird from her shoulder and placed it on the table next to 'Luna'.

"Stephen...meet Luna." The blue bird craned it's head inquistively at the other bird, approaching her slowly and steadily.
Stephen Cornfootnot_corny on December 28th, 2005 02:15 am (UTC)
Holy shit! What was going on? Stephen's cheeks flushed again. Yes, he was sweet, but he had a hard time getting just one person to kiss him. She had eased his mind considerably, and helped distract him. The cranes were continuing to do that.

"I think they like each other," he said, watching the cranes meet each other and interact.
__loony__luna__: eyes__loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 02:35 am (UTC)
"I think they do." Now Luna was in full bloom blush and suddnely speechless. She wasn't used to getting so much attention. Granted, the origami thing was pretty impressive, but most things were made considerably less impressive when the general impression of you was that of being a complete nutter.

Luna fidgeted with another napkin, not really making anything before taking another sip of her butterbeer and smiling at Stephen.

Stephen noticed she was blushing as well and was curious as to why, so.. "You're blushing," he stated, and then realised that would make it worse. It always made him blush more when someone pointed it out. "Sorry."

He looked down at his hands for a moment, then back up at her. "Is everything okay?"
__loony__luna__: wanna__loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 03:33 am (UTC)
Luna nodded vigarously, "Oh yes, everything is just fine!" She rested a palm against her cheek, feeling the heated flesh there. She rolled her eyes at Stephen, "I am blushing! I don't have a clue as to why..." Her brow furrowed in thought, "Maybe it's the firewhiskey, or becuase you're cute and not calling me odd, or maybe it's that our friends there are getting along so well." Luna pointed to the pair of paper birds who were now nuzzling each other.

Any of them were viable options and Luna stated them as such, not really aware that some of them mightmake Stephen a bit uncomfortable. Luna wasnt usually aware of such things.
Stephen Cornfootnot_corny on December 28th, 2005 03:49 am (UTC)
"I'm cute?" He followed her gesture and glanced down at the birds, surprised. "Well well, looks like we have a pair of love birds. Or uh.. love cranes. Or something. You know what I mean. The birds are cute. I am not."

Stephen was feeling more and more flustered, as he usually got around girls who complimented him and made him blush. It wasn't her, not at all, and he hoped she didn't think so.
__loony__luna__: luna fade__loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 04:24 am (UTC)
"You are so!" Luna mussed his hair and smirked at him. There was nothing like having to prove a point to get Luna talking and out of any iota of flustered behavior. "All that dark hair, those dark eyes to match, and..." She patted his cheek before kissing him on the corner of his mouth again, a completely friendly Luna kiss, mind you. "that adorable smile. You are the epitome of cute."

"And so are these birds." Luna crossed her arms atop the table and rested her chin across her arms, watching the two birds preen each other and nuzzle some more.
Stephen Cornfoot: blush.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 04:34 am (UTC)
If he thought his blushing was back before, it was even worse now. Stephen grinned and looked shyly at the floor, his cheeks bright pink. He loved having someone mess with his hair, but Luna had no idea and he was not going to tell her how much he liked that. "Thank you."

When he recovered, he looked up, at the birds. "We should make them a baby crane."
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 05:14 am (UTC)
"A baby crane?" Luna blushed into the napkin as she folded it into a smaller crane. She set in front of the other two and tapped it with her wand, sending it waddling to its new parents.

"Um...what should we name it?" Luna was about 12 deeper shades of red than she had been all afternoon, but she smiled at Stephen all the same, thoroughly enjoying herself.
Stephen Cornfootnot_corny on December 28th, 2005 05:20 am (UTC)
"Why not? It'll complete the little family."

Stephen watched her create the little one and watched it meet its parents. They took to it immediately, just as he expected. "I have no idea. Maybe we should name it after someone? Like how we named the others after each other." He wondered about the blush on her cheeks and wondered about what could have caused that, if anything. "I'm not very creative."
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 05:43 am (UTC)
"Let's see...we could name it Seamus." Luna reached for her wand once more, tapping the tiny bird and causing it to turna brilliant emerald green.

She mindlessly leaned her head on Stephen's shoulder and smiled as she watched the new family, "I think it suits him. See? He even likes cheese!" Luna giggled as the baby crane waddled over to her plate of cheese and crackers and pecked it's tiny beak at a chunk of cheddar.
Stephen Cornfoot: ha ha.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 05:51 am (UTC)
Stephen burst out laughing at her suggestion, thinking it was absolutely perfect. "He'd hate us for that but I think it's wonderful," he managed to spit out between gasps for air and laughter.

As he calmed down, he leaned against Luna, finally feeling like himself again. "How are you feeling? Better than earlier?"
__loony__luna__: Black & White Luna__loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 06:00 am (UTC)
"Much better, thanks." And she was, as she remembered why she called Stephen comfy in the first place. The firewhiskey fog was almost gone and making origami animals was turning out to be one of her more favorite activities.

She looked up at him, catching only his smile as he was now leaning on her and out of her view for the most part. "How about you? You were really rather miserable before."
Stephen Cornfoot: adoration.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 06:13 am (UTC)
"Good." He'd been concerned about her earlier, but that was reassuring.

Stephen arched his brows at her question. She was right, he had been miserable. "I'm better. Thanks to you." That was the truth, definitely. "Just a passing mood, likely because of all the alcohol." And other things as well, but he didn't want to elaborate. Not after everything that had happened.
__loony__luna__: luna fade__loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 06:19 am (UTC)
Luna reached up and rubbed the side of his head, "I'm glad."

She watched as little bird Seamus tripped over his own tiny webbed feet and his parents rushed to his aide. Luna smiled at the sentiment.

"Are you going to the reunion tonight, Stephen?" She had hoped he was, if nothing more than to have someone to talk to. Ok, maybe it was a little bit more than that, but she wasn't admitting that to herself.
Stephen Cornfoot: skeptical.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 06:26 am (UTC)
Luna was, strangely enough, much less confusing that Seamus. Stephen didn't feel like he constantly had to guess around her: guess at how she felt and what she was thinking. Even if he didn't know, he didn't worry about it.

"I don't know," he admitted, staring off into space. "I never intended to go to any of it, but I might now. I'm not sure yet, though. What's going on tonight, anyway?" He couldn't remember, at all. He probably had a schedule of events at his flat, but he hadn't looked at it.
__loony__luna__: stare__loony__luna__ on December 28th, 2005 06:39 am (UTC)
"Some kind of pensieve memory tour this afternoon, then drinks, dinner, and dancing this evening." She sighed into Stephen's shoulder. "I suppose I need to go to the tour thing for the paper, but you should go to the events tonight. You can go with me, if you'd like?"

She sat up to look at his face and gauge his reaction. Luna wasn't sure if what she had said constitued as asking him out, since she'd never asked anyone out before. She didn't even know if she wanted to ask Stephen out. But, she knew she had wanted him to go and maybe he would if he knew a friendly face would be there.
Stephen Cornfoot: adoration.not_corny on December 28th, 2005 06:10 pm (UTC)
Stephen shuddered at the thought of attending any sort of tour. The memories? No thank you. But the rest sounded fine. He would be distracted and there would be drinks, and socialising and dancing and food! He wondered if Seamus was going.

Was she asking him out? he wondered as well. He tilted his head a little, looking back at her now that she was sitting up again. "Sure, yeah.. yeah I'll go. That sounds great."
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 29th, 2005 12:20 am (UTC)
Luna smiled brightly, clapping in excitement, "Really, Stephen? That's wonderful!" Luna looked down at her watch, it was 1:45pm and the Penseve event started at two. She's have to leave now if she wanted to get there in time.

"I have to go, Stephen, but I'll meet you at the reception hall at five, alright?" Luna started gathering up her things, taking a final swig of her butterbeer. He eyed the paper birds on the table and smiled.

"What should we do with our little family, here?"
Stephen Cornfootnot_corny on December 29th, 2005 12:50 am (UTC)
When Luna looked at her watch, Stephen immediately glanced at his. He should really check on his dog. "Yeah, five, that sounds great," he replied as he pulled out more money to cover all of the drinks they had.

His attention turned to the birds and Stephen looked between them and Luna. "I can take them home with me, make a little cage for them to live in."
__loony__luna____loony__luna__ on December 29th, 2005 02:12 am (UTC)
Luna leaned in to plant one last kiss on Stephen's cheek. "So sweet!"

She turned to leave, waving a final goodbye over her shoulder. "I'll see you at five!" And with that, she was gone, lost in the crowds of Diagon Alley.
